The International break is over! and thankfully the Premier League is back and it did not disappoint (if you ignore the Liverpool v Manchester Utd game) Now that week 8 is behind us it’s time to look at the players who impressed this week in the Premier League. As always if you disagree you can comment below or call us out on Twitter @nerdhubonline
GK – Maarten Stekelenburg
Following the performance of his life I can make his dream come true, Maarten, you made it into the Nerdhub Team of the Week.
LB – Charlie Daniels
Mr. Consistency for Bournemouth, I’m a big fan of his and he topped his performance off with a goal.
CB – Ashley Williams
When you partner Phil Jagielka at the back you know you will have to carry him through the game, while Jagielka (who I assume is a secret City fan) did everything possible to gift Manchester City the win Ashley Williams stood firm and made last ditch tackle after last ditch tackle to save his team.
CB – Winston Reid
Well West Ham have finally got a win, they didn’t make it easy and basically rolled over, luckily Winston Reid decided that we was going to recapture the form that got him linked with Arsenal.
RB – Adam Smith
Another stalwart for the club, and another Bournemouth player in this week’s team of the week, it just goes to show if your team scores 6 then everyone has played extremely well.
CM – Joe Allen
Bae is back! <3 you better get used to seeing Joe Allen in Teams of the Week because he is tearing it up at the moment! Two goals from Welsh Pirlo keeps his place this week.
CM – N’Golo Kante
On his first game against his old side he reminded them exactly what they were missing, he was everywhere. I know you aren’t allowed to have more the 11 players on your team but I’m 97% sure that N’Golo is a triplet and they all sneak onto the pitch after 5 minutes.
CM – Ilkay Gundogan
Since recovering from his injury Gundogan has shown his class and has made a believer out of those who doubted his price tag, he pulled the strings in a dominant Manchester City team allowing the likes of David Silva the space to roam and cause problems.
RW – Junior Stanislas
This is the last Bournemouth player I promise, it was a Bournemouth were a different class to Hull and showed just how far they have come under Eddie Howe, Stanislas epitomised his style with his direct running and was a constant threat with his pace.
ST – Charlie Austin
Starting to hit his form and if he keeps that going Southampton won’t miss Pelle, missed a chance my nan could have scored but finished with a brace so it’s hard to be too critical of his performance.
LW – Mesut Ozil
With only one position to fill it was between Ozil and Walcott but we saw the best and worst of Theo in the game against Swansea and the worst is awful. Ozil’s finish was magnificent, and for that he gets the spot.
See you next week!
